As we come to the end of the year and winter approaches all too quickly we wanted to take time to acknowledge all the different holidays our students might be celebrating. The resources below provide information, videos, celebratory foods, and traditions on these different holidays. We also wanted to provide you with some culturally aware calendars for the new year so that you can have an inclusive calendar.
As you might see there are many holidays between now and the beginning of January, but there are many more that we were not able to list just yet. With the large amount of holidays in the winter season, we wanted to remind everyone the importance of wishing students, colleagues, and strangers to have a “Happy Holiday” instead of just “Merry Christmas.” Christmas is only one of the many holidays and just because it is one of the major holidays celebrated – it is not the only holiday. As SEL practitioners we want to make sure we are including all our students in our holiday celebrations.
