If you’re like most of us, 2020 has been a challenging year. SEL4CT wants to take a moment to connect with you and discuss the importance of self-care as the year comes to a close.
How are you managing your self-care? What are you doing to ensure that others feel empowered to care for themselves through this challenging time? How has self-care changed for you from a year ago? Come share your self-care strategies, and gather resources and recommendations from others as you take a leisurely virtual lunch break with members of the SEL4CT community.

This month our featured guest will be Dr. Sandee McClowry, Professor Emerita, New York University and the developer of INSIGHTS into Children’s Temperament. Her work promotes the ideas that SEL skills can be effectively individualized to match a child’s temperament/personality and Sandee will explain how understanding a child’s temperament can help SEL providers tailor their strategies to match a child’s temperament.
To prepare for her discussion you can go to this link to identify a child’s temperament. Scroll down the page to “Take the survey” and answer the questions about a child that you work with that is challenging for your to work with. Then retake the survey about a child you don’t find very challenging to work with. As part of her presentation, Sandee will explain the survey during the brown bag and demonstrate other ways that you can identify a child’s temperament.
Bring your lunch, your questions and your curiosity and join the conversation!
