As the adults in schools, how do we care for our own well-being so that we can show up as our best selves for our students in these times of change and uncertainty? Thanks to a unified movement across CT, starting this fall, all early childhood through high school, including afterschool program, staff will have the opportunity to take the on-line 10-hour course. This course will be delivered by leading experts in the fields of psychology, education, and research at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. There is no course fee due to a generous grant from Dalio Education.

The 10-hour online course is being offered to all Connecticut school staff, including teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, principals, and non-teaching staff in preK-12 schools and afterschool programs for free, thanks to the generosity of Dalio Education. Upon completion, school staff will earn a certification from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.

The course will open in late September 2020 and can be completed on your own time, at a pace that works for you.

What does YOUR community need most? How can the Connecticut State Legislature make that happen? Come tell us what you’d like to see the State of Connecticut do to support SEL in a real way.

Come hear about what is already on the legislative agenda for SEL this session as determined by the State appointed School Climate and SEL Collaborative. Then we need you to tell us what works for you and what’s missing.  You know your own community’s needs best; your work puts you in the unique position to see what others do not. Bring your individual expertise about what you do, what you need, and what will help you do it better. Help craft the SEL4CT legislative agenda for the upcoming session and ensure your voice is heard as we define the SEL4CT advocacy agenda for this season for the greatest impact on ensuring the social and emotional well being of our state!

collaborate

In light of the recent upheaval, violence, and resulting traumas happening in our country, state and local communities we wanted to pause and connect intentionally with you, our members, to address the needs you see in our community.  We recognize our need to hear how you, your families and your professional community have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and the resulting protests. These crises have brought many of our country’s underlying social issues to the fore of our collective consciousness. It is imperative that we work together as a community to address them as the community tasked with cultivating the skills and supports necessary to cultivate caring, connected, functional, and successful human beings.

Understanding that SEL is integral to constructively supporting our community in this time, we need to hear directly from you as practitioners, advocates, and the eyes and hands on the ground.  How have your practices shifted in this crisis? What approach has been successful for you thus far and beyond?  What and where is the biggest need?  What support are you offering, and what support do you need?  What can SEL4CT do you for you now and moving forward? What change do you want to see?  What kind of legislative support do you need?  What kind of training or resources do you need?

What is Connecticut doing? How can we best support CT right now? Sign up through the link to register participate in this online conversation!
